Last Updated on, December 29th, 2022
The story about Panvel being the new poster boy of Navi Mumbai’s real estate has gained a lot of traction over the last few years. Major infrastructure developments around Panvel, like the Navi Mumbai airport, the new metro lines, the trans-harbour sea link etc. have slowly made Panvel into a major investment destination. Panvel of the future is touted to be the next big thing in Mumbai real estate, but Panvel today, also has a thriving social infrastructure which makes it one of the best places to live right away.
The untold story
Consider this – Café Coffee Day’s branch at Inorbit Mall in Navi Mumbai (which is merely 30 mins away from Panvel) does tremendous business which is rivalled only by the one at Carter road in Bandra. Mont Blanc & Tanishq does its biggest business in this region through its store in Inorbit mall. There are around 300 high-end cars (price range between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 1 crore) moving around and the number is rising. According to official figures, Navi Mumbai has a literacy rate of 98 per cent, an average income of Rs 25,000 per month (as compared to the national average of 9500 per month) ; and 64 per cent households own vehicles. These figures tell, the untold story of Panvel.

A thriving social infrastructure
The social infrastructure at Panvel has evolved systematically and most facilities are available within walking distance. Unlike most metros, distance can be calculated in minutes rather than hours here. With schools & colleges like DPS, Ryan International, DAV Public school, Pillai College, Amity University etc within a 7km radius, the area is coming up as an education hub in a big way.
Panvel also offers a thriving nightlife with plenty of go-to places specially around Khargar & CBD, merely 30 minutes away. Many famous Dhabas like Ekveera, Sai deep & Jay Malhar are regular hopping places for many Panvel residents.

Panvel has also greatly streamlined the process of obtaining water, electricity & gas connections. MJP, MSEB & Mahanagar gas operate effectively as the core trifecta, and are the invisible hands delivering essential services round the clock. Panvel, now is fully serviced by cab aggregators like Uber & Ola, though the most common mode of transport still remains the local rickshaw. Zomato & Swiggy have also expanded their delivery base to cover all of Panvel. With more restaurants coming up in the region everyday, the options of daily take-out is on the rise.
The best part of Panvel is the fact that it gives you the option to chill in both Lonavla & Bandra on the weekends, both of which are just an hour away on either sides.
Seamless Connectivity
Panvel has a great connectivity to Navi Mumbai via the Thane-Belapur road and also via the Thane-Panvel Harbour line. For people working in the IT hubs and offices around Vashi & Airoli, the commute from Panvel is a breeze. The Sion Panvel expressway connects Panvel to Mumbai city, making major suburbs like Chembur merely 45 mins away. By rail, Panvel enjoys connectivity all the way to CST through the Harbor Line.
The upcoming Mankhurd-NMIA-Panvel metro corridor will be a 32-km route, passing through the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The second part of this will be built over the Sion-Panvel Highway connecting Sewree to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The proposed corridor will be a 22-km route helping Panvel become one of the most connected locales of MMR.
With an abundance of waterfalls & dams around Panvel, weekend outing scenes are very sorted. Gadheshwar dam, Pandavkada & the Dhodhani waterfalls are all merely 50 minutes from Panvel. Dipping your feet in the cold water or soaking in the breathtaking views is just a short drive away.
The best part of Panvel is the fact that it gives you the option to chill in both Lonavla & Bandra on the weekends, both of which are just an hour away on either sides. For instance, travelling to Della resort in Lonavla will take you only about 45 minutes from Palaspe Phata. Imagica Theme park is around 30 mins away. On the other side of town, you can get to Carter Road in an hour or grab a drink at toto’s in 55 minutes. It’s truly the best of both worlds.
Panvel – the city of today!
Many big name developments are coming up in the region, but probably the one closest to Panvel city is Marathon Nexzone. Its prime location, makes it closest to a thriving city life and at the same time it is far from the daily hustle.
Looking at the big picture, Panvel is no longer the city of tomorrow. It is no longer the land where you invest and reap rewards 10 years down the line. Panvel is a city of today, ready to take its place as the new cosmopolitan hub of Navi Mumbai.
