Amidst the densely populated landscape of Mumbai, few suburbs are left that can provide a healthy, sustainable and yet luxurious lifestyle; Mulund being one of them. Hailed as the “Prince of Suburbs”, Mulund with its massive crown of green to one side – the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, keeps the hopes of home seekers and investors alive.
Beginnings
One of the most well connected suburbs, Mulund is one of the earliest planned suburbs in Mumbai when German architects Crown & Carter with Zaverbhai Ramji Shah, in 1922 designed a gridiron plan that created the pleasant living conditions of the suburb have made it one of the most cherished localities to live in and around Mumbai.
Development
With globalisation in the 1990’s, the transformation of Mulund really began with old structures giving way to modern skyscrapers, commercial complexes, malls, etc. while keeping its lush greenery intact.
It’s proximity to numerous employment hubs, world class hospitals such as Fortis, prestigious schools such as the Next School and the reputed Kalidas Sports Complex also create a pull for young movers and family makers towards the locality. Besides all this, its proximity to industrial zones gives reason for generations old business families of Mulund to stay associated with the area and keep its traditional roots intact.
This quality social and civic infrastructure has led major real estate developers like the Marathon Group, Piramal, Godrej, etc. bring up the standards of residential life by creating luxury living societies that are at par with some of the best in the city.
“We have seen and participated in transforming Mulund from a quiet and sleepy suburb to being a part of the bustling metropolis. And now, with recent infrastructural developments, Mulund is sure to grow in value by leaps and bounds.” – Mayur Shah, MD- Marathon Realty.
